Gaia University
Gaia University offers a unique approach to higher learning by offering students (called Associates) access to accredited Bachelors and Masters degrees and Graduate Diplomas whilst the Associate is actively engaged in self and planetary transformation. Linking your ideals with self-directed practical experience, you act as a world changer, by working for local and global sustainability and regeneration, justice and peace.
Our self-directed action learning methodology enables you to study locally, at work or on project, in your own language, supported by Gaia University's Regional Organizers, and a worldwide network of learning providers, tutors and mentors.
No longer do you have to choose between earning a living and studying. With action learning your work and your projects become your places of study.

Gaia University Coming to the
West Coast, U.S.A!
Jay
Markert of Gaia University and Living Mandala was
asked this year to organize the EcoVillage section of the Harmony Festival in Santa
Rosa California from June 12th to
14th.
Gaia U’s own Andrew Langford
and Liora Adler will join an amazing lineup of keynote speakers, including
Starhawk, Richard Heinberg and Joanna Macy. During their talk, Liora and Andrew will be
addressing “Cultural remediation and the
insurrection of subjugated knowledge.”
They will also be
leading workshops at the Village Building Convergence (VBC) in
Portland Oregon from June 10-11.
For all of you fortunate enough to be just a hop and a skip away, I plan to
live vicariously through your attendance at these two incredible
gatherings! You can also hear Liora and Andy on the airwaves (or in the
archives), June 3, 7p.m. PST on the Laura Fox
Show from Visionary Culture.

Keystone Species in Agroforestry and Bioregional Repair
Agroforestry and Bioregional Repair are
the “North Stars” of Gaia University Associate Connor Stedman’s work.
Through his reflections, wanderings and research he’s come up with a proposal for the
optimal way to create and maintain an Agroforestry project. He’s also
recently obtained his first experimental site in Massachussetts.
But
let’s go back to the two compound subjects at hand. I don’t know about
you, but personally these are not topics for which I can whip off a one-line
definition in my head. So how to explain the importance of this focus on
“Agroforestry and Bioregional Repair”? Connor explains them in terms of “Keystone
Species.”

News from our Regional Circles:
Gaia U Deutschland
Terra Preta’s Role in Soil Regeneration

Gaia University’s German Regional
Center has been developing some fascinating new
projects. I was quite impressed to hear of all the innovation going on,
particularly in the field of Soil Regeneration. Founding member and
Operations Director Katharina Weber spoke
with me about their recent exploration into Terra Preta, a soil enriching
method from the pre-colonial Amazon basin.
Terra
Preta is becoming a central focus of the German Center. Prof. Declan Kennedy,
chairman of the Gaia University Advisory Board will soon be working on
their first Terra Preta site at the Lebensgarten Ecovillage. Gaia U
Associates will be given the possibility to work on developing the Terra
Preta project as well. Read more…
